Joanne has joined us as a Junior Technical Consultant and we can’t wait for her to add her own skills and knowledge to our connected approach to sustainable solutions.
Here she is to tell us a bit more about herself…
What’s your role at Melin?
I have recently joined Melin as a Junior Technical Consultant, assisting with BREEAM Assessments and establishing the environmental performance of buildings for clients.
What’s your background?
I graduated with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Geography from Swansea University in 2013 and recently graduated with an MSc in Spatial Planning and Development from Cardiff University. Whilst completing my Masters, I worked part time within the department of Pathology at Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board. I am excited about working at Melin as it’s my first role working in an area that’s relevant to my studies.
Which part of your job do you love?
The diversity of projects we are involved in, from modern sustainable developments to more traditional sustainable building methods. I also enjoy working with clients and visiting different sites.
What do you do outside of work?
In my spare time, I enjoy coastal walking along the Gower and spending time with my young nephews. I also enjoy cooking and trying healthy alternative recipes.
Tell us one ‘green’ thing that you do.
I am very pro-recycling i.e. plastic, paper and food. I am also very conscious about switching off power switches in the house and office when they’re not being used.
We take away the frustration of building regs, but what’s the one thing that frustrates you?
When people forget their Ps and Qs.
Tell us something surprising about yourself?
When I was 12 I had singing lessons and sang solo at a local theatre.
